As the artistic center of bustling, downtown Pleasantville, the Jacob Burns Film Center continues to prove why its 10th anniversary in 2012 is a legitimate cause for celebration. In that short span, it has become one of the most celebrated cultural arts centers in the county. In addition to showing the best in independent, documentary and world cinema, the center projects class in its spacious, sleek and pristine three-theater complex on Manville Road. Occasional discounts ($1 tickets for kids to celebrate its anniversary year), themed film series (the environmentally and socially conscious “Global Watch”) and A-list guest speakers (ranging from Neil Young to Martin Scorsese) make every movie-watching endeavor feel more like an event than a mere flick.
