Families looking for a good time this Saturday can head over to the Yonkers Riverfest for a free day of fun. This year marks the 20th annual Riverfest and the event, which draws around 25,000 people each year, is still going strong.
The festivities, which kick off with a parade of flags at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8., will run until dusk. Other featured activities include a blessing of the riverbed by Moonhawk, a Native American dance troupe, live music on five stages, including performances by Mariachi bands and Irish Step troupes, free kayaking and a display of classic cars. Kid-friendly activities include face painting, crafts and Colonial-themed games at the historic Phillips Manor. A variety of food vendors will be on hand to keep everyone fed and street performers will keep spectators entertained.
For a full list of scheduled performances and a map of events, visit the official Riverfest website (www.yonkersdowntown.com/riverfest). The event will take place on several blocks by the Yonkers waterfront.
