7th annual New York Comic Con kicks off

Pop culture fans are sure to be excited about New York Comic Con, which opens today at the Javits Center in Manhattan. The seventh annual event, which runs through Sunday, will feature some of the biggest talents in movies, TV, music and of course comic books. A few of the stars even have connections to the Hudson Valley. And even though the event is sold out, fans can still get in on the fun via livestream.

Threef TV shows with local ties will have personnel participate in panels during the convention. The supernatural drama “666 Park Avenue” will have a special video presentation and Q&A at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Chappaqua’s Vanessa Williams, Walden’s Dave Annable and Yonkers’ Erik Palladino will be among the cast members making an appearance.

“Arrow,” a new series based on the Green Arrow comic book character created by Rye native Greg Berlanti, will also have a Q&A panel at 11 a.m. on Sunday, and i will be streamed online (click here for details).

You might remember that Kevin Bacon was spotted in Bronxville this summer. The actor was filming his new TV show “The Following,” which is set to premiere next year. TV fans can get a sneak preview of the highly anticipated drama at noon on Sunday, when the pilot episode will be screened, followed by a Q&A session with Bacon and his co-stars.

Other major events happening at Comic Con this year include panels for the hit series “The Walking Dead,” the horror remake “Carrie” and the cult classic “Evil Dead.” Among the celebs making an appearance are Kevin Smith, Julianne Moore (who stars in “Carrie”), Carrie Fisher (“Star Wars’” Princess Leia) and horror novelist Anne Rice.
