"American Chopper," the reality-TV series about a family's custom motorcycle shops in New York's Orange County, rides off into the sunset tonight.
Known for the feuding father-son duo of Paul Teutul Sr., owner of Orange County Choppers in Newburgh, and Paul Teutul Jr., who left O.C.C. to open Paul Jr. Designs in nearby Rock Tavern, the series has chronicled the drama that goes into building custom bikes for high-profile clients, charities and motorcycle fanatics.
Discovery, the show's cable channel, announced Nov. 16 that the series would be coming to an end after 233 episodes and a decade on the air.
At one point, the sniping between Senior and Junior was so intense that lawsuits were exchanged, but they seem to have set aside their differences of late. However, there will be at least one more professional throw-down before it's all over: Tonight's "Chopper Live" finale announces the results of a final bike-off, with fans voting on the bike design they like best. Paul Sr.'s website and Paul Jr.'s Twitter feed have been lobbying fans to text their votes before the winner is revealed on tonight's live finale, airing at 9.
In a video on Discovery's YouTube channel, Paul Sr. answers questions and discusses his strategy leading up to tonight's series finale.
