Armonk's Ron Howard on 'Arrested Development' return: 'IT'S ALIVE'
Photo credit: Fox | A mid-'00s classic comedy from Mitchell Hurwitz, "Arrested Development" was as funny, original and odd as anything most viewers had ever seen on a major TV network. Its influence remains wide and deep, and, in fact, the series will be born again soon on Netflix.
“Arrested Development” fans raised their fists and shouted “Steve Holt!” to no one in particular last night, when Ron Howard (@RealRonHoward) twice posted on Twitter about filming the cult comedy’s new season for Netflix.
Howard, an Armonk resident, tweeted two photos from the “AD” set shortly after 7 and 9 p.m.
“Arrested Development for Netflix. IT’S ALIVE,” reads the earlier of the two tweets, accompanied by a link to a photo of show creator Mitch Hurwitz, standing by storyboards and a conference table. “This is what the writer’s room looks like.” As of 11:39 a.m., that post has been retweeted 3,667 times.
In the later tweet, Howard is smiling with “Arrested Development” star and Rye native Jason Bateman, whose cheek is being kissed by show creator Mitch Hurwitz. “Mitch let Jason and I in on some of the twists and turns ahead,” Howard tweeted. “Hilarious.”
An hour earlier, Bateman tweeted a similar picture, sans kiss. "Taken at AD mission control, today!" reads his post, which has been retweeted 6,000 times. "All systems are go. Filming for the new episodes starts in four weeks. Woo!"
However, neither Howard nor Bateman posted pictures of the “Arrested Development” banana stand, which sources assure me always has money in it.
