Matt Damon's days as the star of the "Bourne" movie franchise may be done, but "The Avengers" star Jeremy Renner seems up to the task in "The Bourne Legacy," with a little help from Dutchess County's David Strathairn as the villainous Noah Vosen.

Opening this Friday, the latest installment features familiar faces to "Bourne" fans, including Strathairn, Albert Finney and Joan Allen. As if they didn't bring enough gravitas to the movie, new cast members joining Renner include Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz and Stacey Keach. That's a dramatic acting clinic, right there.

Although the trailer doesn't make it clear to what extent Strathairn appears in "The Bourne Legacy" — it appears Norton is taking over for Strathairn as primary antagonist — any appearance by one of the country's most underrated actors should be celebrated. (Hey, I've been a big fan of the guy ever since he played Whistler in "Sneakers.") Those who need a heavier dose of Strathairn can catch him in the second season of "Alphas," airing 10 p.m. Mondays on SyFy.
