'Christmas Carol' opens in Sleepy Hollow

Can three ghostly visitors bring about a change of heart in the cold and crotchety Ebenezer Scrooge? Kids and adults alike will thrill at storyteller Jonathan Kruk’s one-man performance of the Charles Dickens classic, “A Christmas Carol,” which opened the day after Thanksgiving in Sleepy Hollow (381 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow; 914-631-8200; www.hudsonvalley.org).

Music and candlelight will set the mood in the Old Dutch Church, where Kruk will bring to life such familiar characters as the miserly Scrooge, his belittled and impoverished underling Bob Cratchit, Cratchit’s crippled youngest son, Tiny Tim, and of course, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come.

Parking for the Historic Hudson Valley event is across the street at Philipsburg Manor, where complimentary hot chocolate, cider and cookies will be served.

Kruk performs at 4, 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. on Saturdays in December. Tickets, which can be purchased online, are $16 for adults and $12 for children under 18. Members receive a $5 discount.
