'Dancing with the Stars': 5 local celebs we'd love to see on the show

The "Dancing with the Stars" season 16 cast announcement will be made Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America," and although Baltimore Ravens' wide receiver Jacoby Jones already has been confirmed as a cast member in the upcoming season, the identities of the other cast members are still a mystery.

Because the Hudson Valley is home to so many talented stars, here are some local celebrities we’d love to see do the cha-cha or the rumba on the hit reality show.

Anne Hathaway: The former Vassar College student just won a supporting actress Oscar for her role in the musical “Les Miserables.” Because we know that Hathaway can belt out a tune, we also would love to see her show off her dance moves. Plus she'd get to wear some dazzling costumes that would help us forget how much we disliked her recent Oscar gown.

Martha Stewart: The entrepreneur, who owns a home in Bedford, has a highly successful career as a lifestyle and culinary expert, and recently launched a new radio show. Because she seems to be good at everything she tries, it would be thrilling to see Stewart trade her apron and clogs for rhinestones and stilletos and get out on the dance floor.

Ryan Reynolds: The Bedford homeowner would provide some much-needed eye candy for "DWTS." Even though his 2012 film "Green Lantern" fizzled at the box office, remember how good he looked in his superhero costume? The former Sexiest Man Alive surely would earn high ratings for the show, although his wife, Blake Lively, might not appreciate the line of ladies willing to fight to have him as a dance partner.

Mary J. Blige: The R&B star, who was raised in Yonkers, is currently in the headlines for her ongoing financial woes. The "No More Drama" singer is in desperate need of good news, and a reality TV victory also would help her with her money issues.

Matt Lauer: The news anchor, who is a former Chappaqua resident, has seen his popularity tumble in the wake of his former co-anchor Ann Curry's dismissal from NBC's "Today" last year. Even though "DWTS" airs on a competing network, perhaps the sight of Lauer on the dance floor would win him back some fans.

Which local celebrity would you like to see on "Dancing with the Stars" this season? Let us know in the comments!
