'Deception' with Victor Garber premieres on NBC

The new NBC drama "Deception" premieres tonight, and the midseason thriller has two connections to the Hudson Valley.

“Deception” is a family murder mystery in which NYPD detective Joanna Locasto (Meagan Good) investigates the murder of her close friend by going undercover at the home of her wealthy family. Victor Garber, who has called Highland Mills home, plays the family patriarch.

Although "Deception" is largely set on Long Island, the show filmed scenes in Hastings-on-Hudson in November at various locations throughout the Westchester village. DAK Enterprises, an auto repair and service store at 339 Warburton Ave., and Hastings Prime Meats, at 537 Warburton Ave., were among the shooting locations.

Newsday TV critic Verne Gay calls the show "numbingly familiar and a bit plodding, even old-fashioned," but also believes the series demonstrates promise due to the performances of its actors, particularly Good and Garber. 

"Deception" premieres Monday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
