Edie Falco's new play 'The Madrid' premieres in NYC
Edie Falco, best known for Emmy-winning television roles on “The Sopranos” and “Nurse Jackie,” stars in the new Off-Broadway play “The Madrid,” which opens tonight.
Written by “Nurse Jackie” producer Liz Flahive, “The Madrid” stars Falco, a former Purchase College student, as Martha, a teacher who seemingly has the perfect life. When Martha impulsively decides to walk away from her family, career and responsibilities, her loved ones grapple with how to deal with her absence.
Besides Falco, the play features two others with Hudson Valley ties. Frances Sternhagen, a Vassar College graduate, is one of the cast members, and Jeff Croiter, a graduate of Eastchester High School and Purchase College, is the lighting designer. Croiter won a Tony Award last year for his work on "Peter and the Starcatcher."
“The Madrid” is playing at the Manhattan Theatre Club in Manhattan and will run through April 21. And if you miss seeing Falco on the small screen, the new season of “Nurse Jackie” premieres on Showtime on April 14.
