Ethel Kennedy honored at Glamour's Women of the Year gala

Ethel Kennedy was among the women celebrated at Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year gala on Monday, and quite a few celebrities with local ties attended.

The Kennedy matriarch and her daughter Rory received the "Generations Award.” Rory Kennedy recently premiered an HBO documentary about her mother, which focused in part on Ethel’s dedication to public service. In the words of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.): “Ethel Kennedy instilled in her children a responsibility to serve humanity. She and her daughter represent the best in all of us.”

The mother-daughter pair accepted the award surrounded by generations of Kennedy women, including Mount Kisco resident Kerry Kennedy, one of three Kennedy children who live in the Westchester area.

Other Hudson Valley celebrities on hand for the awards gala included Yonkers native Mary J. Blige, who introduced a group of Olympic gold medalists. Spring Valley native Julianna Margulies and Chelsea Clinton, whose parents Bill and Hillary live in Chappaqua, served as presenters.
