Justin Long, Martha Stewart earn Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week

With all the pomp and circumstance surrounding Election Day, celebrities with Hudson Valley connections took to Twitter this week as results poured in.

In keeping with the trend, Newsday Westchester has picked five election-related tweets that mention neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney. (To see a few tweets that are a bit more partisan, check out this post from earlier in the week.)

Peekskill native Paul Reubens used Election Day as an opportunity to raise awareness for candidates, woodwinds and delicious pub grub.

I've definitely had a few days of irresponsible nacho consumption. They did not end well.

In the fourth spot on the countdown is National Lampoon contributor Evan Kessler, a Ramapo High School grad who grew up in Pomona. A consistently funny follow, Kessler took a step back, before the election, to ponder the wider geopolitical spectrum.

My guess is Prime Minister Gretzky is trying to figure out ways to end the National Hockey League lockout. It's practically a national crisis for our neighbors to the north.

As Election Day turned into Election Night, the tension was too much to bear for Republicans and Democrats alike. It's enough to make a person (gasp!) leave the house for food!

To be fair to Martha, she's not shy about going out for food in Westchester; she's been open about visiting shops ranging from Little Kabab Station in Mount Kisco to the Bedford Post Inn. But here's the question that's burning more than the roof of her mouth after those three slices: Did she go to Marcella's Pizzeria in Mount Kisco, where Tom Cruise, Sean Connery and, most recently, Taylor Swift have been spotted? Inquiring minds want to know (and a pie with extra cheese).

This week's runner-up is former Peekskill resident and deadpan champ Michael Ian Black, who wondered if a GOP strategist had changed his mind about the polls in Ohio, long after most experts had agreed Obama had won re-election.

Something tells me Rove isn't a big fan right now of "The State," whether that be the cult MTV comedy or, y'know, Ohio.

This week's top tweet goes to Justin Long, who attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. He's just hoping for unity after another contentious election, and isn't afraid to apply a pun to prove a point.

How great is this photo? Regardless of your politics, you have to love Long's expression — and the demon-eyed photo-bomber's pleasant demeanor in the background.
