Kevin Nealon, 'Pop Goes the Culture' events postponed

More Hudson Valley entertainment events have been postponed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy: Kevin Nealon's two nights of comedy shows at Levity Live in West Nyack and the "Pop Goes the Culture" event in White Plains.

Nealon had been scheduled to perform two shows per night this Friday and Saturday, but his publicist contacted Newsday Westchester this afternoon to say the appearances were canceled due to "flooding and power problems" at Levity Live.

Calls to Levity Live's box office resulted in a message that the phone number was "temporarily unavailable," so there's no immediate word on the fate of other shows at that venue.

Elsewhere, "Pop Goes the Culture" creator Jon Chattman tweeted me this afternoon to say that the all-star event slated for Friday was postponed, but would be rescheduled for a date to be determined. The eclectic event was expected to salute a wide variety of pop-culture icons, including wrestler "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka; "30 Rock" star Grizz Chapman; "The Magic Garden" stars Carole Demas and Paula Janis; "Slim Goodbody" himself, John Burstein; and ABC meteorologist Bill Evans.

This is just the latest in a series of event postponements and cancellations following the hurricane. Last night, Ingrid Michaelson announced that her Halloween show at Tarrytown Music Hall would be postponed until Dec. 1.
