With yuletide cheer and failed attempts to play unfamiliar musical instruments, late-night talk shows with local connections yielded the top Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week.

Before we get to the late-night clips, let's start with a few tweets from Twitter accounts belonging to Hudson Valley celebrities. At No. 5 is Bedford actor Chazz Palminteri, who's dispensing his requisite advice to his followers while they await the rescheduling of his "Ask Chazz" event at the Westchester Broadway Theatre.

Chazz tweet

As great a point as he makes, I want to use that advice as an excuse to scale back on my holiday gift giving, but I don't think telling my nephews that every new day is a gift is going to cut it when Santa already came through with an X-Box.

At No. 4 is Rigby Sue, one of Susan Sarandon's two dogs with a Twitter account. (The other is Penny Lane, whose account has twice been honored for offering a Hudson Valley Tweet of the Week.) It's hard to tell if Rigby Sue is recovering from some kind of ordeal in Sarandon's Pound Ridge home or not, but the pup is trying to make the best of it by declaring her Elizabethan collar a fashion statement.

Rigby tweet

Much like Dug from "Up," I get the feeling that Rigby, deep down, does not like the "cone of shame."

At No. 3 is comedian and Stony Point resident Kerri Louise, who not only was a finalist on a season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing," but also is married to Tom Cotter, the runner-up on the most recent season of "America's Got Talent." Louise is gearing up for the holiday season with a little help from an elf, who seems to have skipped the nog in favor of something with a little more kick.

Kerri tweet

I'd hate to see the present he leaves for me under the tree.

This week's runner-up for Tweet of the Week is from the Twitter account for Dave Matthews Band, whose namesake spent his teenage years in Yorktown.

DMB

The tweet itself is rather matter-of-fact, but, in addition to DMB's performance, viewers of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" were treated to one of the show's best games. Matthews and Keira Knightly faced off against Fallon and Michael Bublé and in a charades-style game that challenges players to play well-known songs on unfamiliar musical instruments. For whatever reason, this is even funnier than it sounds.

The best of the Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week is brought to you by Palisades resident Bill Murray, who made his annual holiday visit to North Salem's David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Yes, Murray was there to promote his new movie, "Hyde Park on Hudson" (and Newsday Westchester's got in-depth coverage of the film and its back stories, in case you missed it). But the visit also allowed Murray and Letterman to celebrate the holiday season with comfort and joy (and marshmallows).

Late Show tweet

Yes, the clip is funny, but I appreciate the camaraderie among comedy legends while northern Westchester's Paul Shaffer attempts to match Murray's key of "The Christmas Song" on keyboards.
