In the latest reality TV news, local celebs Mary J. Blige and Howard Stern are making headlines in relation to NBC’s top talent shows.

Blige, a Yonkers native who would have been ideal to replace fellow Yonkers star Steven Tyler on “American Idol,” has instead chosen to join its rival show, “The Voice.” Rolling Stone reported Monday that the R&B diva will act as an adviser for Adam Levine’s team on the third season of the show, which returns Sept. 10. She'll take over for Alanis Morrisette and Robin Thicke, who advised members of "Team Adam" last season.

Howard Stern, who began his professional career as a DJ at 107.1 FM in Westchester County's Briarcliff Manor, already serves as a judge on NBC’s other reality hit show, “America’s Got Talent.” During his SiriusXM radio show on Monday, the star revealed that NBC has asked him to return next season. According to USA Today, Stern said that his hectic schedule this week -- live judging duties on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and hosting his radio show the following mornings -- will help him make a decision.

Are you excited for Blige to join “The Voice?” And do you think Howard Stern should return to “America’s Got Talent” next season? Let us know in the comments!
