Port Chester's Capitol Theatre to rock again in September

Music fans, rejoice: We now have a date for the grand re-opening of Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre. According to a new video posted on the venue’s website, the Capitol will rock out once again starting this September.
In the eye-catching clip (see below), the Capitol Theatre’s storied history is narrated as a fairy tale: “Once upon a time there was a grand theater where the greatest bands in rock and roll made history.” Cut to some of the biggest names in rock: The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Janis Joplin and The Grateful Dead. After showcasing the many acts who have graced the Capitol stage, viewers are told that “one day the theater fell into a deep, deep slumber. Many, many years later, it awoke. Now, the Cap is Back.”
The video is a reminder of the Capitol’s rock n’ roll legacy, one that music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro is hoping to revive with an extensive restoration project that began late last year. The 85-year old theater, which once hosted music icons, had only been hosting private events in recent years. Over the past few months, the Cap has been undergoing a makeover to transform it back into one of the premier music venues in the Hudson Valley.
"The Capitol Theatre is a rock and roll icon and we are going to treat her as such," Shapiro said in a 2011 press release. "We are going to spoil her and give her the best of everything - the best sound, the best lights, and the best video projection technology of any theatre anywhere. Our plan is to turn the knob to 11 in every way possible."
As for which acts will be the first to grace the stage, no announcement has been made yet. Tell us what you think: Who do you want to see perform at Capitol Theatre this fall?
