Rosie O'Donnell announces on Twitter the arrival of new daughter

Rosie O’Donnell and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have announced via Twitter that they are the proud parents of a baby girl.

The Nyack comedian tweeted a photo of herself and Rounds holding their new daughter, along with the message “we r [sic] thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota - #withloveandthanks - AMEN.”

According to USA Today, the latest addition to the O’Donnell family was born Jan. 5 and weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces.

It was just the latest major news story that O’Donnell has announced through social media. In August 2012, she revealed that Rounds, then her fiancee, had developed desmoid tumors earlier that year. The revelations didn’t stop there: Two weeks later, she announced she had a near-fatal heart attack, and then one week later she disclosed that she and Rounds had privately gotten married in June.

O’Donnell has four other children: Parker, 17; Chelsea, 15; Blake, 13; and Vivienne, 10. Rounds is a first-time mother.
