Taylor Swift is a part of the family, says Patrick Kennedy

Will Taylor Swift one day be a Kennedy? According to one member of the famous political clan, she’s already a part of the family. TMZ spoke with former congressman Patrick Kennedy at the Democratic National Convention, and asked him what he thought of the country star dating his 18-year-old nephew Conor Kennedy.
The senator replied, “We love Taylor Swift...she’s been a great friend and we’re happy for Conor.” He added, “If she wants to be in the family, she’s already a part of it.”
Well then! Looks like the controversy surrounding the lovebirds’ alleged crashing of a Kennedy family wedding in August hasn’t caused any ill will among 22-year-old Swift and her boyfriend’s relatives. The two first began dating earlier this summer, when their romance appeared to go public after they dined on thin-crust pizza at Marcella's Pizza in downtown Mount Kisco in July. Swift often visited Kennedy at his family's Cape Cod estate, and reportedly bought a home there across the street from Conor's grandmother, Ethel.

The seal of approval from the prominent member of the Kennedy clan comes on the same day as the star received three Country Music Award nominations, including Entertainer of the Year. And with Swift attending the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Thursday night, odds are high that she and Kennedy will make the high-profile event their first official outing as a couple.
