With live music on weekends, a few Harleys parked out front, three bars, indoor and outdoor dining, and, oh yeah, a man-made “beach” in the backyard, The Captain’s Table has been a popular American restaurant and nightlife destination since it opened in 1931. Although the one-third acre of sand in the back of the venue was intended for occasional outdoor volleyball tournaments, customers responded more to the beachy vibe — even if there’s no ocean to be found on site. -Chris Serico
