Orny Adams, 'Spring Awakening' top weekend events in the Hudson Valley

From a Jerry Seinfeld protege to Tony Award-winning theatre, there's plenty going on this weekend in the Hudson Valley. Here's a look at a few can't-miss events.
Saturday-Sunday: Orny Adams at Levity Live
As the stand-up comic not named Jerry Seinfeld to be featured in the documentary, “Comedian,” Adams didn’t have the easiest path to stardom. But sticking with it has paid off, helping him land spots on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Show with David Letterman.”

Saturday-Sunday: ‘Spring Awakening’ at The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck
With a rock score composed by singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik of “Barely Breathing” fame, “Spring Awakening” won eight Tony Awards, including best musical, in 2007. This staging by Up in One Productions is directed and choreographed by Kevin Archambault.

Saturday and Sunday: Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre at The Bardavon Theater
VRDT’s annual gala performances at the Bardavon celebrate jazz, modern, and ballet works, which this year includes “Chairs,” by choreographer Zvi Gotheiner, and “Nurse" by guest artistic director Brian Reeder.
