Perkins Memorial Drive at Bear Mountain

Perkins Memorial Drive was blasted off Bear Mountain using 50,000 tons of dynamite in 1932. The drive leads to Perkins Memorial Tower, 1,305 feet above the Hudson River, and served as a weather station and fire lookout until the 1950s. (July 9, 2012)
