Casa Del Sol
104 Main St. Nyack, NY 845-353-9846
Chris Serico
A hacienda with personality to spare, Casa Del Sol offers popular Mexican, Latin-American, Spanish and even Caribbean-inspired cuisine in a spacious setting. On Friday and Saturday nights, live music beneath the lobby arches fills the venue with rock, blues and country. And if you’re feeling brave, bring your own instrument every Thursday night for Casa Del Sol’s open jam. -Chris Serico
Bar crawl:
Who should go: Anyone with a love for Latin culture and a sense of humor.
Special features: For a splash of sweetness, try the Bug Jar, a $7 crowd favorite made with raspberry vodka, sweet tea vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, a splash of sour mix and “bugs” (raspberry floaters).
Happy hour: From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, grab half-price tapas, $2.50 Coronas and $5 margaritas.
Where to sit: If you want to feel like you’re holding court, ask for the table in the back, which almost serves as a stage. The most requested table is number 14, which features not only a canopy with a tiny skeleton on the top but also a clever wall mural of a man peering at diners through the bars of a jail cell.
