Il Sorriso Ristorante Italiano
5 N Buckhout St. Irvington, NY 914-591-2525
Leslie Barbaro
Perched on a rock outcropping overlooking the train tracks and Hudson River beyond, this airy, welcoming spot is a local favorite for those seeking reliable renditions of traditional Italian dishes. The airy lit L-shaped dining room, with high ceilings, sponged ocher walls and artsy sconces, leads to a large outdoor dining porch. If you are in the mood for grazing, grab a seat at the small bar near the entrance — move fast as there are only four of them — and sample the early bird menu in which half a dozen house specialties are $5 — blistered, wood-fired, individual pizzas; excellent mozzarella en carozza; bruschetta; and more. If servers were any nicer they’d drive you home. -Bryan Miller
