TV never takes a holiday. Well, actually, it takes all holidays, and fills them with marathons. Let's just say TV isn't taking Labor Day off.
Even before Monday, weekend festivals get the party going. So say goodbye to summer with some cool viewing.
Doctor Who (Friday 8 a.m.-Saturday 10 p.m., BBC America) - "Best of the Doctor" special kicks off Friday's season 5 marathon, into tomorrow's season 6 marathon, concluding with the 9 p.m. season 7 premiere.
Moon Machines (Friday 5 p.m.-3 a.m., Science) - Late astronaut Neil Armstrong's moon landing gets a weekend salute. Saturday: "When We Left Earth" (7 p.m., Discovery), "In the Shadow of the Moon" (8 p.m., Science), plus the premiere of "One Giant Leap: A Neil Armstrong Tribute" (8 p.m., Discovery; 10 p.m., Science).
Top 100 Hip Hop Hits (Saturday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., fuse) - Count 'em down.
Perry Mason (Sunday 6 a.m.-Tuesday 6 a.m., Hallmark Movie Channel) - The first 24 postseries TV movies, starting with 1985's "Perry Mason Returns."
Longmire (Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., A&E) - Acclaimed modern-day Wyoming Western crime drama.
Push Girls (Sunday 1-8 p.m., Sundance) - Smart docuseries of four feisty young women in wheelchairs.
Jerry Lewis comedies (5 a.m.-1 p.m., 1-9 p.m., 9 p.m.-5 a.m., Antenna TV) - Three airings of four late '60s flicks: "Three on a Couch," "The Big Mouth," "Don't Raise the Bridge, Lower the River" and "Hook, Line and Sinker."
Festival classics (6 a.m.-Tuesday 6:15 a.m., Turner Classic Movies) - Wide-ranging titles shown at the Telluride Film Festival include the silent "Greed," screwball gem "The Palm Beach Story" and Tilda Swinton in "Orlando."
Monk (6 a.m.-Tuesday 6 a.m. Universal HD) - Tony Shalhoub's best, in HD.
M*A*S*H (8 a.m.-4 p.m., TV Land) - Followed by "M*A*S*H 30th Reunion" (4-6 p.m.).
The Andy Griffith Show (9 a.m.-9 p.m., WLNY/10/55) - Andy and Opie and Barney, on broadcast TV!
Gossip Girl (9 a.m.-3 a.m., Style) - Relive the first season.
Torchwood (10 a.m.-8 p.m., Starz in Black) - "Miracle Day" in its entirety.
Boardwalk Empire (noon-midnight, HBO Signature) - Revisit season 2 before the third season starts Sept. 16.
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (noon-8 p.m., Travel) - Marathon leads into the 9 p.m. start of the new season titled "The Final Tour."
Get to Work (7-11 p.m., Sundance) - Perfect Labor Day topper: Boot camp helps unemployed people transform their lives.
