Six out of 11 stores sold alcohol without checking ID when cops sent an underage, undercover man into convenience shops and delis in and around New Paltz this week, State Police at Highland said.
The effort was part of routine checks to make sure store clerks and owners are following state liquor law, which prohibits people under 21 years old from buying alcohol.
