Creative Hudson Valley start-ups thrive despite funding slump

Major venture capitalists cut funding for the Hudson Valley to a trickle last year, putting $21.3 million into three companies: a jewelry company that mixes bricks and clicks, the builder of a platform to create publishing apps for iPad and Android tablets and a social media company that organizes house-party campaigns for corporate brands.
