David Durk, a former New York City detective who joined with Frank Serpico to expose police corruption in the 1960s and '70s, died Tuesday at his Putnam County home in Patterson. He was 77.

His wife, Arlene, told The New York Times that he died of cardiac arrest. He had been treated for mesothelioma for the past two years.
