1870s
The prelude
Commodore Vanderbilt buys the New York & Harlem Railroad. Before Metro-North, most track east of Hudson and New York was under New York Central line. Metro-North’s Harlem line was originally a combination of track from the Harlem Railroad, NY Railroad and Boston/Albany railroad.
