Your ticket to health: free Living Well workshop series
Are you living with a chronic condition such as arthritis, cancer, heart problems or diabetes? Does it feel like your health problems are telling you what you can and cannot do?
If so, relief is on the way.
Register now for the Rockland County Department of Health's free six-week Living Well With Chronic Disease Workshop Series and learn how to get back in charge of your health and manage your chronic health problems.
The series will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Oct. 16 through Nov. 20 at Valley Cottage Library, 110 Route 303, in Valley Cottage.
Two trained leaders (one or both of whom are living with a chronic disease) will conduct the workshop series. Topics include staying fit; understanding your medicine and treatments; learning how to communicate effectively with your doctor; improving how you feel by following some easy, healthful food guidelines; thinking positive; and making an action plan.
All workshop participants will receive a copy of the companion book "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions" and the relaxation disc "A Time for Healing."
The workshop series is open to the public. Preregistration is required and space is limited. For more information or to register, contact the county Health Department at 845-364-2501.
