A heads-up for the holiday: If you're planning a cookout, think lunch rather than dinner.
July 4 will be hot, humid and punctuated by thunderstorms, with the first thunderstorms expected to roll into the area before sunrise, bringing strong wind gusts and up to a quarter-inch of rain before the sun comes out, according to the National Weather Service's New York forecast office.
