I am one of two reporters, along with Patrick Whittle, covering the Town of Hempstead. I also report on the villages of Hempstead, Freeport, Garden City, Malverne, Valley Stream and others. My goal is to report stories that interest residents in the town, while being informative, fair, accurate and balanced. The Hempstead Town board will hold a public hearing next month to consider landmarking a monument at the historic takeoff site of Charles Lindbergh’s solo trans-Atlantic flight, the world’s first such flight.
The board Tuesday set the hearing for July 9 around 10:30 a.m., after receiving the Town of Hempstead Landmarks Preservation Commission’s support and recommendation.

The Small Business Assistance Program and S.J. Edwards Inc. will present two health care seminars for small businesses.
The “Health Care Reform/The Affordable Care Act and the Impact on Small Businesses” events will be held at the Freeport Recreation Center, at 130 Merrick Rd.

The Town of Hempstead Lacrosse Academy will offer weekly clinics, one-on-one and small group lessons, and specialty position sessions for experienced players throughout the summer beginning Monday.
Most weekly clinics begin on June 17 and sessions run from Monday to Thursday, while some others run through Friday.
