Anna M. Bier (1924-2012)

Anna M. Bier, 88, of Bronxville, died May 30, 2012, at Kendal-on-Hudson in Sleepy Hollow.

She was born in Woodhaven, was a former resident of Kendal and earned a degree in child psychology from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn. She worked as a secretary of a publisher of Scribner's, Alice Dalgleish, and then later was a secretary for Margaret Elderberry of the children's book department at Harcourt Brace. She also served as a copy editor of Harcourt Brace and editor-in-chief of Children's Books, retiring in 1985.

She was a Yankees and Giants fan, loved to play bridge and tennis, and enjoyed watching movies and playing hand bells.

She was a member of the community of St. Joseph's Church.

Services took place June 2.
