The East Ramapo School Board on Tuesday slashed elementary music positions and decided to borrow $9.6 million to help cover a midyear budget deficit of about $8 million.
The board, pressured by the looming possibility of a state takeover, cut nonvarsity sports for the spring. Some elementary art and music programs that had been threatened were saved through $1.1 million in Title I grants.
