In a lengthy response to the state Education Department on Wednesday, East Ramapo schools Superintendent Joel Klein called on the state to stop attacking East Ramapo's leaders and instead help grapple with the problems of balancing the needs of about 8,900 public and 20,000 private school students in tough fiscal times.
