An overnight fire Friday in Wesley Hills that destroyed a house and sent the homeowner and a firefighter to the hospital may have been started by a burning Hanukkah candle in the living room, officials said.
"That's what some of the residents are saying, that it was a candle, but the cause remains under investigation," Monsey Fire Chief Adam Gordon told Newsday.
