Nanuet firefighter charged with scamming fellow volunteer over home improvement

A Nanuet man who ran an unlicensed home improvement business took $35,000 from a fellow volunteer firefighter but skipped out without performing the work, authorities said.

Michael Kubasek, 44, of Foxcroft Drive was indicted Wednesday by a Rockland County grand jury on one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony that carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison.
