A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while walking in Nyack on Tuesday afternoon, the Orangetown Police Department said.

The woman was in the crosswalk at South Broadway and Burd Street when she was struck about 4:40 p.m., Lt. Lorraine Wetzel said.

"There was blood on the ground," said witness Joan Oliver. "Her husband was standing over her, bewildered."
