Both lanes of Route 9W in Haverstraw were open again as of 3:30 p.m. Friday, more than eight hours after a fuel spill closed a three-mile stretch of the roadway, town police Chief Charles Miller said.

The southbound lane had reopened shortly after 11 a.m.

At least 50 gallons of oil were spilled by a tractor trailer shortly after 7 a.m., closing the road from Route 202 to Route 304.
