A Spring Valley woman defrauded Rockland County's Department of Social Services out of more than $18,000 in an effort to receive Medicaid and food stamps, the county district attorney's office said Wednesday.

Tanya Lindsey, 40, falsely said she was unemployed while renewing her application for benefits, according to a news release.
