The mayor of Suffern appointed Stephanie Furgang Adwar as the village's first female acting justice Wednesday.

A lifelong Suffern resident, Adwar is a founding partner of the law firm Furgang & Adwar, LLP in West Nyack. She earned her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.
