The state's school board association Wednesday called on lawmakers to offer schools relief from budget and calendar restraints to help districts grapple with the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Hudson Valley educators were calling on lawmakers last week to waive a 180 school day requirement, after districts burned through emergency days to deal with power outages and road closures.
