Democratic state Sen. David Carlucci has drawn his first Republican competitor in the newly redrawn 38th District.

Janis A. Castaldi, a former deputy mayor and trustee in the Village of Ossining, has decided to challenge the freshman lawmaker in the Nov. 6 elections with the backing of Westchester County and Rockland County GOP leaders.
