Mount Vernon police opted to use a stun grenade instead of returning gunfire when a suspect shot at them during a drug raid Friday, Police Commissioner Carl Bell said.

The incident happened early Friday morning, when six officers executed a search warrant at the East 4th Street apartment of Gary Hines, 37.
