Feds give $1.5 billion for Tappan Zee, but toll hike may be higher

The Cuomo administration has secured a $1.5 billion federal loan to cover a portion of the cost of a new Tappan Zee Bridge, meaning slightly steeper-than-expected tolls could be on the way if the state doesn't come up with more sources of funding, Newsday has learned.
