An early morning two-alarm fire caused smoke and water damage to a Greek restaurant and a delicatessen in New Rochelle Monday, officials said.
About 25 firefighters from seven companies battled the fire that may have originated in a pile of cardboard boxes piled in the basement of the deli, La Guadalupana, at 605 North Ave., said New Rochelle Fire Chief Louis DiMeglio.
