A dirt bike's hot motor singed by alcohol sparked the fire that left 14 members of a Mount Vernon family homeless Thursday night, officials said.
"Everybody was able to get out after the dirt bike engine fire spread to bedding and the whole house went up," Mount Vernon Fire Commissioner James Gleason said Friday.
