Peekskill, facing job cuts, offers new buyouts to workers

With nearly 20 jobs on the chopping block, the City of Peekskill decided Monday night to give employees who could be laid off another chance to retire.

The city is compiling a list of 18 employees who will be laid off to close revenue shortfalls in 2013, and at least one employee has asked if he can take early retirement instead.

So the city's Common Council voted to extend the offer...
