Beacon Mayor Randy Casale was shocked when he heard that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo wanted to close the Beacon Correctional Facility, a minimum-security prison for women in the Duchess County city.
"Nobody from the state called and told me they were doing this," the Republican said Wednesday. "Anytime you lose jobs in your community, it has an effect. I'd like to know the state's plans for the facility."
