Republican Ann Rabbitt headed off a determined challenge from Monroe Councilman Gerard McQuade Jr. to win a fifth Assembly term representing parts of Rockland and Orange counties.
Cheers erupted as Rabbitt announced her 98th Assembly District victory at Murphy's Tavern in Warwick.
Family and friends clapped and hugged one another, shouting, "Thank God!"
