Tappan Zee greenway rejected; bridge to be demolished

Advocates of keeping the current Tappan Zee Bridge as a greenway or elevated park have failed to sway decision-makers in Albany.

The old bridge will be demolished when the $5.2 billion replacement span is in place, officials said at a meeting Tuesday night in Yonkers.
